Google Ads has rolled out some helpful updates to its WhatsApp conversation goals section, giving advertisers more visibility and control.
If you’re using WhatsApp messages as a conversion goal within Google Ads, you’ll now see new tabs:
Diagnostics
Store Diagnostics
Webpages
These additions aim to improve how advertisers track and optimize their WhatsApp interactions.
One notable feature is Conversion Diagnostics, currently in beta. This tool helps you regularly check if your conversions are being tracked accurately—so you can troubleshoot issues and ensure your reporting is reliable.
According to Arpan Banerjee, who shared a screenshot on X (formerly Twitter),
“The WhatsApp conversion action now has more options in its menu, and Google has provided more insights into it.”
This follows another recent update where Google added WhatsApp integration to Performance Max (PMax) campaigns, allowing advertisers to reach customers through WhatsApp directly within those campaigns.
These updates signal Google’s growing focus on messaging-based conversions, especially in markets where WhatsApp is widely used. It’s a great opportunity for businesses to make the most of direct customer conversations and better understand how those interactions impact their bottom line.
