Microsoft Advertising’s Currency Bug: Are Your Metrics Misleading You?

Microsoft Advertising is experiencing a currency conversion bug that affects accounts in specific circumstances.

  • If your website uses an unsupported currency like CZK (Czech Koruna), Microsoft Advertising automatically converts the currency to EUR (Euro) for your account.
  • The bug stops the system from recalculating the currency correctly. For instance, a conversion value of 100 CZK is displayed as 100 EUR in the Microsoft Advertising interface.

 

This leads to skewed metrics, which can misrepresent your campaign performance.

The bug only affects some accounts meeting the following criteria:

  • Your website uses an unsupported currency like CZK.
  • Your account is set to run in EUR because of Microsoft’s currency limitations.
  • Not all accounts under these conditions are affected, but it’s worth checking your metrics if you notice anything unusual.

 

This issue results in:

  • Weird conversion values: Your metrics may look much higher (or lower) than they should be.
  • Misleading performance data: This makes it difficult to assess your campaign’s true effectiveness.


What can you do?

If you see strange conversion values in your Microsoft Advertising data:

  • Don’t worry. The issue is on Microsoft’s side, not yours.
  • Double-check your data. Compare metrics with other tracking tools to verify accuracy.
    Monitor Updates. Keep an eye out for announcements from Microsoft about a fix.
