Meta Unveils Expanded Privacy Controls for European Users

Meta is updating its data privacy approach in the EU, EEA, and Switzerland to align with the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Facebook and Instagram users in these regions will soon receive prompts to customize their data sharing preferences across Meta services. This could reshape targeted advertising on these platforms.

Key updates include options to link or separate data between:

  • Facebook and Instagram accounts.
  • Facebook and Messenger accounts.
  • Facebook information for Marketplace and gaming experiences.

Additionally, users now have a choice between the standard ad-supported version of Instagram and Facebook, or a new ad-free subscription service. Opting for the subscription ensures your data won’t be used for advertising.
