Google Video Partners Are Going Away: Here’s How It Affects Your Demand Gen Campaigns

Starting in March 2025, the Google Video Partner Network within Demand Gen campaigns will be renamed to the Google Display Network. This update expands the reach of not just video ads but also image ads on the Display Network starting in April 2025.

Let’s break down what’s changing and what you need to do to stay ahead.

Key changes coming in 2025

1. Expanded ad types & new name

  • Google is renaming Google Video Partners to Google Display Network within Demand Gen campaigns.
  • From April 2025, image ads will also be served alongside video ads on the Display Network.

2. Display Network opt-in moves to ad group level

  • Currently, the opt-in setting for Google Video Partners is at the campaign level.
  • In March 2025, it will shift to the ad group level, giving advertisers more control over where their ads appear.

3. Automatic migration – Opt-out if needed!

  • Google will automatically migrate your Demand Gen campaign’s Google Video Partners opt-in to the new Google Display Network opt-in for all ad groups.
  • Don’t want this? You can opt out before March by unchecking “Google Video Partners” at the campaign level—or later at the ad group level.

4. Image ads start serving in April

  • If your Demand Gen campaign has opted into the Google Display Network, image assets will start serving automatically in April.

5. Channel Control Beta (Coming in March)

  • Google is introducing Channel Control Beta, allowing you to choose specific channels for your Demand Gen campaigns.

6. Reporting updates

  • Currently, video ads served on Google Video Partners are reported as “Google Display Network.”
  • From April 2025, this reporting will also include image ads served on the Google Display Network.

What you should do next

Review your Demand Gen campaigns and decide whether to stay opted in or opt out before March.
Prepare image assets if you want to leverage the expanded Google Display Network reach.
Test the new Channel Control Beta when it launches in March for more refined ad placements.
