Google Analytics 4 Just Rolled Out 3 Major Updates for Better Data Visibility

Google has just launched three significant Google Analytics 4 (GA4) updates designed to improve data visibility and tracking accuracy, helping businesses make better, data-driven decisions. Let’s dive into what’s new and how these updates can enhance your GA4 experience.

What’s new in GA4?

1. Percentage values in reports

One of the most noticeable updates is the inclusion of percentage values in detailed reports and Ads modules. Now, each row in these reports will display percentage values, allowing you to quickly understand the relative weight of each data point compared to the total. This makes it easier to spot trends, analyze campaign performance, and make informed adjustments.

2. Missing session start notification

If you’ve ever struggled with missing session_start events in GA4, this update will be a game-changer. GA4 will now send alerts when it detects that session start events are not being recorded properly. Additionally, it will provide insights into what might be causing the issue, making it easier to troubleshoot and fix tracking errors.

3. High “Not Set” rate alert

Seeing too many (not set) values in your reports can be frustrating and can hinder accurate data interpretation. With this update, GA4 will now flag instances where high levels of (not set) values appear in your reports. It will also provide explanations and potential causes, helping you address data gaps more effectively.

Why do these updates matter?

These enhancements are designed to provide businesses with:

Faster issue detection – The new notifications and alerts will help you identify tracking issues before they significantly impact your data.

More accurate reporting – With percentage values and clearer error detection, your reports will be more precise and actionable.

Better campaign optimization – By resolving tracking issues quickly, you can ensure that your marketing campaigns are based on reliable data, leading to improved performance and ROI.
