Google Analytics 4 (GA4) has just made analyzing event data easier by introducing an “Event Name” filter in standard reports. Previously, applying specific event filters required complex workarounds, but now users can do this directly—although it’s currently only available in the GA4 demo property, with a full rollout expected soon.
How to apply the Event Name filter
You can now hop into the demo account and try out the new filter. Simply select the events you want to focus on, and the report will show only those specific events.
While you can apply a filter to see only certain events, non-selected events still appear in the table below. However, these non-filtered events show as “0” in all columns, making it clear which data points don’t match the filter criteria.
This new feature streamlines reporting in GA4, helping users get straight to the data they need without extra steps. Keep an eye out for this update to roll out to all GA4 properties soon!
